Litigation, Family Law, Property Disputes, Landlord & Tenant Disputes and Employment Claims
To give a very general idea of how much our fees tend to be in a litigation matter (excluding disbursements):
Simple cases: £3,000.00 - £8,000.00 (excluding VAT);
Medium complexity cases: £8,000.00 - £12,000.00 (excluding VAT);
High complexity cases: £12,000.00 - £24,000.00 (excluding VAT).
Apart from our costs, there may also be other expenses associated with your matter, such as instructing Barristers, court fees and application fees. These are known as disbursements.
The time spent on a case and our costs can vary significantly depending on how complex the case is. A case is likely to be more complex (and so incur more time) if:
-
It is necessary to attend a long hearing.
-
The claim is in a higher court.
-
It is necessary to make or defend applications to amend claims or to provide further information about an existing claim.
-
It is necessary to defend claims that are brought by litigants in person.
-
It is necessary to make or defend a costs application.
-
There are complex preliminary issues.
-
The number of witnesses and documents is high.
-
There is a necessity to make emergency applications.
